As all of you know my mom passed away in may of this year. It's been difficult to cope with that, but the summer has been so busy (buying a house, moving from WA, Aaron's new job etc. ect.) that it hasn't been on my mind a whole lot. The end of august my dad came out to utah for our family reunion and while talking with him, told me that he had put his profile on ldssingles.com and was talking to a woman that seemed really nice. He had business in CA the next week and since that's where she's from, he went on a couple of dates with her while he was there. He said they really hit it off and told me tons about her.
He came into town a few weeks later and told me that he was going to ask her to marry him. It had moved extremely fast and that they both knew this was the right thing for them. It was hard to swallow to say the least. Not that I have anything against her at all, but just the timing of it was sudden.
Lots of tears have been spilt and some difficult feelings to work through for sure. I've felt my mom close to me and have tried to keep an open heart, but it's hard to do that sometimes. I know she approves of this marriage and that comforts me, but I guess only time and my Heavenly Father will truly help heal my heart of her loss. There have been times when I have felt extremely bitter that my mom won't be able to experience the good times with us (new grandchildren, marriages, and just everyday talk that keeps people close). I know that those feelings of dispair are natural, but I also know that Satan would have us believe that we are alone and no one cares. Heavenly Father is the only one who can help heal those wounds and make us whole again.
Yesterday, my dad was in town to go hunting with my sister stephanie, so we decided to go down and see them. We were invited to eat at one of Karen's (that's my dad's fiance) daughter's house. It was good to meet them and their families and to get to talk with them. Karen has 5 daughters and 1 son. 2 live in SLC and then the rest live in CA.
They are planning on getting married next month in CA, so we'll be going down there for that and also get to take the kids to Disneyland. We're excited about that:) Kaylee will probably remember it, but not Bryce. But i'll for sure get lots of pics so we can go back and look at the good times.
I'm starting to feel a little better about the whole situation and know that the Lord is helping me with that. He's always there and if we seek him, he'll be able to help us. Nothing else can take away pain except that!!! He's experienced it all and can know what we're feeling and that is priceless. Knowing that someone understands you and what you're going through helps more than anything.
Here is just another one of my creations. I love doing it all! They're so fun:)

The same thing happened to my best friend and she had a really hard time with it, and still isn't the biggest fan of her "Step-mom", but came to realize that it was really hard for her dad to be alone after being married for so long. My parents are divorced and both re-married, but that's a completely different situation. I hope that everything works out okay and that you and your dad can be happy!
veronica, what a tough situation. my mother did not pass away but i have had similar situations with both my mother and father finding new loves. sometimes it's harder than others, especially when you're not particularly ecstatic about their choice of mate, however, as time has passed, it has brought comfort to me to know that my mom is not lonely, and i am always hoping that my dad will also find someone perfect for him. i always think about what i would want for Bill if i passed away and although my personal selfishness would want him to never find another person to love, deep down inside, i know i would never really want that for bill. i'm thankful that you have felt your mother's spirit as she comforts you in this trying time...
thanks for opening up. its helps to just release it-even if your typing it all out! im sure the Lord is very mindful of you and your family. your mother will always be close and can never be replaced. your strength is encouraging. i hope you will be able to find peace and comfort in these hard times.
It's healthy for you to talk about your feelings. I can only imagine the mixed emotions you must have.
Take time to talk things out with your dad. What a blessing to feel your mom so close to you. Heavenly Father is there for you. Also know those feelings of bitterness are natural and you will work through them. Grief isn't something you go through and then you are better. It becomes a part of you, controlling how much a part of you, is the struggle. Stay strong!
Aww V, I'm so glad we get to talk so often. I know you say you need advice, but you always make the right choice, and you know what to do deep down in your heart. That must be very comforting having such a strong confirmation from your sweet mother. I love you, and you can get through this, and now you get to have family in CA which is awesome, because if we are at USC I can see you all the time!! WOOT WOOT!! See, always see the positive!
veronica, i am glad that you were able to share something so personal with everyone your testimony is beautiful and you are just so amazing...so strong. i am glad that your dad has been able to find someone, the Lord has blessed him, he has been through so much. it is good to know that you feel like your mom approves, i know that molly would want your dad to be happy. love you.
